I enjoyed the thought process in your narration and its accompanying cynical humour...but if you excuse...I love parties......and Esp, COUNTING THE GIFTS!!!!! hee hee!

I am not much of a 'social' enthusiast. Have always found parties and such to be a dumb-ass, waste of time. And I am not sure I ever understood the meek submission of people who go to a party they for sure know won't like because , "I have to."
Nice work. Would you also write a blog from the 'hosts' perspective. 'Why?' do the feel compelled to invite and waste money on people they hardly like or enjoy the company of? What is this sickness called? LOL
Peace. :-)

A very interesting short story.
A  critical analysis of birthday parties.
It tells many untold  truths about birthday parties.
The psychology of the middle-class families is narrated through the events.

Hi Bhairavi,

Welcome to the world of blogging. Enjoyed your style of narrative. Could almost visualize that evening.  Hope your blog will serve as a warning to all parents to keep their young children's birthday parties sweet and simple.
